The “Future Stars Program”
The players selected to the program following tryouts will be placed into 4 training groups of 12.The HPL Directors will balance four groups evenly to ensure that all development sessions and game are extremely competitive to bring out the best in every player.
Each player will have two hours of skill development a week run by HPL Skills Directors.
They will also have 24 Half Ice games (two games back to back each Sunday until Christmas Break) that is 30 hours of game play.
The kids will then transition to 8 Full Ice Games in the new year (one game a day) that is 10 additional hours of game play.
Every 2012 player in the HPL Winter Level Future Stars program will have 80 hours of hockey for the season. Additionally all players will have access to open ice on Fridays at Planet Ice Coquitlam to go out on the ice and have fun with friends.
Families can also pursue private lessons (limited to groups of 4) with the HPL Coaching Staff in the early evening another weeknight a week if you are looking for those options.
We had our best year yet in 2018/2019 and we received a ton of feedback from families. We have done our best to take that feedback and further improve our program.
Each age group will see players training together more inside HPL instead of families having to find development outside of it. This means the players are on the ice more often with motivated, high performance players that leads to more valuable ice times.
We are also adding team and individual professional photos this season at no additional cost so each player will feel special being a part of this development program. This upcoming season we are introducing older age groups to make this a longer development stream for families interested in being a part of our development model for a longer period of time. Finally we will be improving our website to include schedules for families so they can access them online at anytime.
Players will receive a game uniform and a practice uniform. Both will have their logos on them again adding to the team feeling. We will once again have a big group party around the holiday break. Each team will also have an activity/team bonding event before the season starts to get to know each other.
The cost of the HPL Winter Level Program Future Stars Program would be an HPL Team Fee of $2895 for the season.
Each game is 1 hour and 15 minutes long of half ice 4 on 4 hockey, two games each Sunday. That will then transition to full ice hockey games with single games each Sunday.
All games for the 2012 age group are on Sunday mornings at 11:00am and 12:30pm. The winter schedule of games would look as follows September 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th. October 6th, 20th, 27th. November 3rd, 17th, 24th. December 1st, 8th, 15th. January 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th. February 2nd, 9th, 23rd. March 1st.
There are no games on Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day and Family Day weekends. There is also a break for Christmas holidays of two weeks. Team fees also cover the cost of officials, coaches, and gate openers.
Each team (Beavers, Lumberjacks, Bandits and Flyers) will also have two skills sessions a week. Those times are not released until we release the schedule however there is no practice starting earlier then 5:30pm. Each team will have one earlier and one later ice time to make the traffic commute easier on all families. Every player will have an ice time on Monday and Wednesday evening.
Each family will also have an HPL Player Fee of $250. That fee looks after the cost of a game uniform, a Christmas party, your child’s insurance coverage, a team photo and individual photo.
The HPLPlayer Fee will be due if your player is selected to the program following tryouts, as well as a first deposit on your team fees. Team fees will be made in four payments the first made before July 15th, September 15th, October 15th, Feb 15th. Those payments will all be made on our HPL Website.
HPL Summer Hockey School
We are very excited to announce that HPL will be offering summer hockey camps the last week of August!
These camps will be exclusive to players selected for the Winter Level Programs and will run August 26th to 29th (Monday to Thursday).
The camps will have a completely different theme each day and each age group will have a different program director on the ice with them each day. The camps will change in structure for each age group but they will all offer the highest caliber of hockey players and development, in their age groups, compared to any other summer camps offered.
More information will be uploaded to our website shortly and registration will roll out following HPL Winter Level Tryouts.
